The huge change in Adele’s appearance is attributed to the sirtfood diet, which few of us had heard of until a few weeks ago. The authors of the sirtfood diet are two British who are specialists in food nutrition and collaborate with many famous celebrities. Aidan Goggins and Glen Matten published a book in 2016 called “The Sirtfood Diet”, in which there is a detailed description of the use of the sirtfood diet. In recent years, we have come across many different ways to lose weight – we are familiar with various types of fasting, high-protein diets and other special types of nutrition. What makes the sirtfood diet different from them? What is the so-called Adele’s diet?
Sirtuins – unusual substances that are influenced by the sirtfood diet
Sirtuins are a group of proteins found in the body that perform many important functions. It turns out that sirtuins play an important role in regulating metabolism, controlling inflammation and have a significant impact on the course of aging processes . The task of the sirtfood diet is to increase the amount of sirtuins in the body, which is likely to result slows down the aging of the body, accelerates the reduction of adipose tissue, increases the sensitivity of cells to insulin . Moreover, sirtuins are likely to increase muscle protein synthesis, which is why it has been suggested that their high concentration in the body will protect us against loss of muscle mass during weight reduction . The results of research showing that obese people have lower sirtuins (SIRT1) than in people of normal weight.
It was noted that we can influence how active the sirtuin-coding genes will be, the weight of thinness and youth genes. Based on the current knowledge, it was hypothesized that to increase the production of sirtuins in the body that will probably help us achieve fat reduction, slow down the aging process and support our overall health, we can introduce short-term fasting (which is rarely recommended due to side effects), exercise regularly and / or follow the sirtfood diet rich in food products that stimulate the production of sirtuins.

The sirtfood diet consists of two phases, each of them divided into 2 phases. The sirtfood diet begins The 3-day stage of a low-calorie menu, which does not exceed 1000 kcal . During these 3 days on the sirtfood diet, we drink 3 sirtuin cocktails and one solid meal rich in substances that enhance the production of sirtuins. It is recommended to reach for a cocktail in the morning, afternoon and evening, and for a solid meal at any time, but no later than at 19. Keeping is also recommended at least 2 hours apart between drinking a shake and eating a solid meal. Then it starts 2 stage 1 phase of the diet sirtfood , which lasts from day 4 to day 7 (4 full days in total). We eat during this time no more than 1500 kcal and our menu consists of 2 sirtuin cocktails and 2 solid meals . The authors of the sirtfood diet ensure that in their pilot study participants lost an average of 3.2 kilograms during these first 7 days.
The creators of the sirtfood diet recommend repeating the first phase as needed – once every few months or once a year.
The second phase of the sirtfood diet begins with the 14-day phase during which we eat every day 3 solid meals and one sieve cocktail . We can also optionally enter 1-2 additional snacks based on products supporting the production of sirtuins. There are no specific guidelines as to what caloric content we should use in the second phase of the diet. Second stage of the second phase sirtfood begins after 21 days applying the previous steps – in this last step we have much more freedom. There is no specific caloric content of the diet, number of meals or duration of use. However, the authors recommend that you still drink 1 sitruin smoothie a day and base your diet on sirt products.

Who is the sirtfood diet for?
The authors of the sirtfood diet recommend that it be used by people with a BMI greater than 20. The sirtfood diet aims to achieve weight loss , therefore it is mainly aimed at overweight and obese people . If we suffer from chronic diseases, it is worth consulting a doctor before starting it. Due to the fact that the first phase is low in calories, the use of the sirtfood diet by people with very low body weight may prove dangerous to their health. Sirtfood diet It is not recommended for children, women planning conception, pregnant and lactating women because it may turn out to be deficient in some ingredients – in particular, phase 1 of the sirtfood diet. However, we can introduce sirtuin products to the menu, because they have a very beneficial effect on health.
Physical activity and the sirtfood diet
During the first 7 days of the sirtfood diet, it is recommended to avoid intense, exhausting physical activity due to the low caloric content of the diet – moderate intensity exercise is recommended. The authors of the sirtfood diet emphasize that when combined with regular exercise, we can achieve better results. They recommend undertaking physical activity 5 times a week for 30 minutes while maintaining a moderate intensity.
Do I need to take dietary supplements on the sirtfood diet?
A properly balanced sirtfood diet, especially in the second phase, will cover our needs for the necessary nutrients. The authors of the sirtfood diet recommend that people living in Central Europe (including Poland) take supplements vitamin D. in the autumn and winter period. On the other hand, vegans undertaking the sirtfood diet should still remember about supplementation vitamin B12 and may consider supplementation omega-3 acids .
What to drink on a sirtfood diet?
On the Sirt diet, it is recommended to drink an adequate amount of fluids every day, which for the Polish population is 2 liters a day for women and 2.5 liters for men. The authors of the sirtfood diet encourage us to reach for:
